2002
In the Year 2002, our inaugural principal, Henry Grossek took 12 months Long Service Leave and Ray Heathcote was appointed to the school as acting principal. Our enrolments dropped slightly to 730, yet we continued to attract families from beyond the immediate neighbourhood, with 69% of all new prep enrolments coming from outside the area. In March 2002, Berwick Lodge Primary School, achieved Quality Management Certification to International Standards, making us the first Government school in Australia to receive certification to this level. In an era of greater accountability, greater consumer awareness and increasing legal liability, we were able to develop this internationally recognised management tool to support the already high quality teaching and learning programs on offer at the school. The year also saw our school transform into a muddy building site, with the construction of 5 new permanent classrooms, with a project value of $750,000.
